I'm fighting with my TTI spool mounts to make things fit together. My passenger side mount hits my oil filter relocation kit ever so slightly, I need maybe an 1/8" more to make it clear completely, So i need to move back that mount, and my driver's side hits the A/C compressor by about 3-4 inches...so I need to move that one back. SO, I'm in need of some firewall pics of A-bodies with 5.7L car engines in them, I'm curious as to why the engine sits where it does if for any other purpose than to sit in the stock location that any other small block Mopar would.

I don't have any pics for you, but. On my 75 duster the motor is so close to the firewall it needs to have slight tweeking. There is a bolt tha comes through the firewall (mounting the heater/ac box) and the end of the bolt digs into the intake. A little grinding work and a hammer will clearance it though. I think that the motor sits in the stock locationof the standard small block, but I ever bothered to look much as I knew my 318 was coming out a few days after buying the car. The motor is tight against the firewall, I doubt I could get my fingers behind the motor if I wanted to. Hope that helps you some.

That's what I figured. How about front clearance to the radiator? I'm trying to see if I can move the engine forward a little bit, would make things easier on fabbing the mounts.

my rad is not in the car yet, but from the core support to the pullys it looks to be about a foot of room. I'll double check it this coming weekend for you. Andcan snap some pics if you would like.

The way I've always done it, both with the 3G Hemi and BB conversions is to cut the engine mount ears off the k-frame, have the engine and trans attached to each other, bolt in the trans mount, place the engine where you want it on the k-frame and fab up some mounts. This way the distance between the back of the engine and the firewall is always the same. That being said, it is very tight back there, but I don't have any issues with anything rubbing. There's plenty of clearance to the radiator, though.

see I am running a truck manifold and t sticks out a little more than the car. My car is an original ac car, and I would assume the heater box undr the dash is slightly different. And I have one bolt that needs to be shaved down. I have the tti mounts factory k member and trans mount.

Good info guys, I'm waiting for my trans until mid June so...looks like I'm grounded for a while.
