Hey yall! Im working towards my first big mopar mod/project for my 72 Scamp. Im texting a dude on marketplace whos selling a '68 A108 truck that has a 489 case with a factory suregrip. Now my question is: Will this fit in my Scamp without having to be narrowed? Or, will I have to send it off to be modified. I've done a little bit of digging and I THINK its the same width as the 8 3/4 that would be found in any other A-body like a duster or dart, but I'm not exactly sure. If anyone has any insight into this I would be very very grateful.

about 4" too wide.
mounts for springs and shocks are in the wrong location for a-body....

The housing for an A-100 is 56 3/4 and A body is 52 5/8 . so its 4 1/8 to wide. Spring perch for an a body center to center is 43

You could buy the rear to get the sure grip, move the spring pads, and then possibly get some custom wheels with extra backspace. Summit and Jegs sell steel d-window wheels with big backspace cheap.
A true A-body 8 3/4 rear, with a good sure grip, probably runs $1000. (,maybe more).

move the spring pads to the correct side of the axle, torch off the shock mounts-- or leave 'em, i dunno! and source a set of shock plates and you're in business.

however, i don't know what kind of fitment issues you'd have with deep deep offset on a slab sided beast like a scamp. like you may need to move the sprAngs in... and then gettin' 'em on and off may be a chore...

but to your point, there's work arounds.

complete true a-body rears with any gear sets are at least 1000, compete setups closer to 2K and sure grip add somewhere in the neighborhood of another smooth G to that.

So, three k for an a-body 8 3/4 ? (NOT disagreeing, you are probably right).
That would SURE make a Strange Dana 60 much more attractive, at least to me!

i'm just sayin' what i sell 'em for.
