So the old 72 swinger is off to the body shop to get a couple spots of cancer fixed. I am looking for info on the black hood. I am cloning it to be a 1970 and was wondering if a 70 ever came with the flat black hood and if so how was it painted? Was it the entire hood (like the hemi dart) or 3/4 of the hood with the color remaining on the edges 6 to 8 inches left side and right side? Were the twin scoops also flat black, or painted body color? Was the paint actually flat or more of a satin? Was it the hood only or did the black go up towards the windshield? Was the rear spoiler and the bumblee stripe also the same flat/satin as the hood or were they glossy? Sorry for all the questions, but I know somebody knows these answers.
Thanks,
Darren.

Blackout on the hood was between the peaks of the body lines. Paint was organisol. That gritty black paint. No gloss

crackedback,

Is your car an original hood blackout car? If so, can you measure and post the actual dimensions for us?
I've seen some cars with the blackout just to the insides of the the hood's raised body lines, and some cars with the blackout just to the outsides of the the hood's raised body lines.
Which is correct?
I want to do the hood/cowl/scoops blackout treatment to my '71 Dart GT as well, but I want it to look correct.
Thanks for any help!!
