I had a friend that installed a flexible oil dipstick in a small block Chevy several decades ago. It was all fine until the stick itself unfastened itself from the handle and fell into the oil pan.

This was a small block Chevy in a '69 Buick, so it was rear sump and pan had a direct sight to the back of the pan (like a small or big block truck pan). Anyway, he was able to fish/pull the dipstick out of the oil pan drain plug hole, but I swore these off long ago. Lots of vibrations and harmonics on these engines, even more so on flat plane cranks...
