Hey,
I've got an annoying problem that I can't figure out a clean fix for. When I first got my duster the rearview mirror wouldn't budge so i gave it a shot of pb blaster and it freed right up. Only problem is that now anytime I brake or turn the thing flops around and is totally useless as a rear view mirror. I've tried carb cleaner to clean the oil out but that didn't help. Any other ideas on how to make this thing less floppy? Right now its got a duct tape fix. Thanks

I'm guessing you'll have to remove it. Clean the oil based product you used to loosen it up. Then if it's still loose, try a drop of superglue in it. I've also read that you could try squeezing the pivot ball area with a pair of plyers.

Good luck...

BELIEVE IT OR NOT RUBBING COMOUND WORKS IF YOU CAN GET IT IN THERE

I just fixed my floppy mirror in my 66 cuda yesterday I took it off and tightend the allen screw that normally faces the windshield and its as good as new.
not sure if yours is loose in the same spot but may be worth a look

Remove it, tighten the backing plate by either flattening it slightly or put a small piece of sand paper in there and reassemble it. Works like a champ.

I gave up on mine, I got a nice rearview mirror from a Saturn at the salvage yard. Just about the same size and shape, and it's nice and tight. Plus has the day/night adjustment. It has the mount that glues to the windshield.
