Hello again,

I am planning on doing a four-speed conversion for my Dart, and I have have had this nagging question: does it matter if the floor pan tunnel is from a '64, '65, or '66? I know that the '64/'65 are the same with the round hole, and that the '66 has that elongated hole.. At the end of the day, and if purity is not in question, does it matter which year tunnel is used? If so, why? Thanks again.

Matt

cant imagine why it would matter, except the shape of the shifter hole may determin what shifter boot you use,,here is a little tip.

when i converted my auto 66 to a stick i used a 66 trans hump, if you have a choice if your the guy cutting it out of the donor car, cut it out keeping the gas pedal floor bolt holes intacked with the hump, then bolt the donor hump to the floor using the gas pedal holes. that will put it in the correct position too mark where to cut,,i cut the floor smaller the n needed and hammered the floor over up in to the donor hump, then spot welded it and seamed sealed it. just my 2 cents

ya just the shifter boot will change beacuse of the diameter of the hole brewer just started making fiber glass copys again if you know how to fiber glass i got a 64 dart hump in my shed you can use to copy i live in rosemead

If your not going to go with the original look.....then if it where me....I would go with 66.....just for the ease of parts and such.....lot easier to use the Piston grip...from the 71 and up non-consoule shifter....boot fits. But that's just me.

I've got a '66 hump in my '64. No problems. And I don't care about it looking correct, so I'm happy with it.

Thank you everyone for the help, tips, and feedback; I appreciate it. Glad to know it really doesn't matter which of those humps are used. Saw the fiberglass unit Brewer's offers, so that may be the way to go. Has anyone out there purchased and used one of those units? Are they good quality? Slantsix64, thank you for the offer to copy your '64 hump; unfortunately, I do not fiberglass, but if I end up learning, I will contact you.
