I bought a front speaker bracket from a guy on FABO. I finally got around to it today because I had the dash pad off. It is a simple design. In retrospect I wish I had just made my own. I got the old piece of crap speaker out and everything looked like it matched up. I test fit the braket and the mounting ears were too long. I had to cut 1/4" off each ear. Then the pre-drilled mounting holes were too small and I had to drill them one size larger. Once the bracket fit I drilled holes to mount the speakers and installed them on the bracket. I fought for 45 minutes to get the damn thing back in - the dang nuts are hard to get at. Finally had to use a swivel and wrap paper around the nut so it would stay in the socket. Looks good and is going to sound good. two Infinity Kappa 3.5" in the front, two 6X9 Infinity Kappa in the rear, one 12" Kenwood sub, an Alpine head unit and a Polk Audio 2200 watt 5 channel amp. When this is done it is going to be good!

Sorry to hear of the problems installing your bracket. I got one from Jerry and it fit like it should.
Now that said, I used a pair of 3.5" Polk's. They hung down so far they interfered with the HVAC controls light. I had to remove the light bracket and rebend it so that it wasn't so high above the controls. It was no big deal as I had the unit out to clean and replace the reflective surface. It was just one more alteration needed to bring the car into the 21st century I reckon...

Oh, it wasn't terrible. The mounting ears hit the defroster ducting on each end, but just barely. And it doesn't take much to drill a new hole.
