Gas cap confusion

I verified today that my 1965 Barracuda does in fact have a vent as depicted in the service manual. The vent line does NOT return to the tank. The vent line ends (open) near where the filler neck enters the tank. It drains on to the ground thus venting the gas tank. It does not matter if you use a vented or factory correct non-vented cap. However, you do need to make sure your vent line operates without restriction.

The only issue I would think would be a vented cap could leak fuel on to the quarter panel, which seems to be a problem on early A's anyway.
