Trying to remove a Sending Unit from an original Gas Tank, it's stuck in there. I took the Lock Ring off, and I'm trying not to bend the Flange. Anyone have any tricks to get it out carefully?

Not much help but our 67 cuda was easy. I was worried more about gas spilling out. Watch removing it that you are gentle removing it.
Only raise car up enuf to get under or you could tip/spill gas.

Spray some PB Blaster around the bottom. GENTLY tap with a soft rubber mallet, after the gunk be gone sets... you may be able to GENTLY twist side to side with appropriate tools

There is a locating tab so rotating is not a good idea

With lock ring off, use a stiff razor blade to start seperating the sender from the gasket or the gasket from the tank.

Some PB as noted above might help to soften the seal.

BE VERY CAREFULL WITH THE FOLLOWING.

get an old style 500W halogen spot lamp and place it pointing at and near the sender. The radient heat might help loosen the gasket.

Heat is fine, sparks not so much

Yea Dana I was thinking about using a little exact-o-knife to cut away some of the gasket
