I was just thinking out loud, i love my small blocks , but if one day i wanted to swap a good old 426 hemi in my cuda ( or all the gen 2 hemi crates ) , how are they ? did somebody ever drove them around here , reability ? ,mpg, power ... i know theres a big WOW factor... but is it really better than a stroked small block...

thx a lot

i think mopar performance crate hemis are all assembled by Ray Barton.

Nope, at least not from what I have heard/read. The only ones Barton assembles are the 528" ones. For the price of a crate you can get one built by him to your specs....or use Tim at http://www.forhemisonly.com/index.html , if my pockets ever get deep enough that is who I will be using....

I just bought a new never run older 426 crate engine and before i did anything I sent it off to the engine builder to go over it. I changed cam, (roller) lifters, pushrods.....

I didnt want any trouble 20 minutes into my first drive...Also, back in 1999 I bought a 528 Hemi, crate engine from a local Dodge Dealership and the first drive the fuel pump push rod disintegrated. after taking it to Ray Barton, (mopar performance told me to) I drove it for 11 years with zero problem....I sold it 3 or 4 years ago and the guy that bought it is driving the living daylights out of it, problem free....
