I know I know, use the search....stupid newbies....:protest:

What are everyone's experiences using Hemi hood scoops?

I always thought the OG hoods were fiberglass but it looks like they were steel, does anyone know how they were constructed? I looked around on the internet but I didn't find much, short of looking at a legit one, yea right....I figured I would ask.

Otherwise, looks like I will be getting a heavyweight hinged hood.

What say ye?

:burnout:

I put one on a 68 dart that I had. I got a pin on hood & I will never do that again. Pain in the a** Had to find a place to lay it every time I wanted to get under the hood. Pin on is not that much different in weight compared to s bolt on.

No chance on a pin-on sir.

I saw there were 2 speeds "race weight" and "heavy weight" layups.

I've had an Unlimited 68 Dart SS hemi Hood on my dart for 30 something years now. Got 6 Dzus buttons and 2 pins holding it on. The same ones I installed all those years ago. Yeah, its showing its age. But being flat black helps a lot. I don't remember what I paid but I think I got my monies worth. LOL. If that Alta Loma is in San Berdoo California I'am right there, just above the 210 freeway. Your welcome to come see for yourself.

Oh, no doubt it will stay on, just the obvious concerns, and previous....getting it off yourself, where to put it when you do.... those things.

Cool, we are neighbors.

Same problem I had. I could get it off myself but where to lay it was the problem.

Just used a bolt on with carriage bolts and chromed faucet tubing in the front... I did run door edge trim around the base where it meets the hood.

Looks good. Where did you get it? Looks to be steel. I didn't find steel components anywhere.

Does anyone know how the factory setup was done?
