Hi, my 1971 Dart, (225 /6 3speed auto) cannot get past 45/50 on the highway and cannot get past 35 going uphill. I replaced the accelerator pump after a leaking issue and noticed something. The two photos is when at idle and the other is wide open throttle. Is the open throttle how it is supposed to be or is there a way to adjust it?

The only adjustment that I know of on that part is the three holes the linkage connects to . I think there is something else going on

On my 1920 the linkage from the throttle shaft to the pump lever is the opposite of yours. The 'hook' end is thru the pump lever and the cotter pin end is thru the throttle shaft (center hole). That may not make any difference, it may, or mine may be assembled wrong. When I rebuilt and cleaned mine I had to do it several times before it ran rite, if a 1920 can run rite. I think the final fix was a better cleaning of the economizer circuit. There is plate inside the bowl called the economizer something??? That has small passages and can get plugged up by ethanol fuel if it sat with ethanol fuel in it.

Looking back on my 1920 problems I should have installed a Wideband sensor and gauge, that would have given me more clues.

If you cannot get up to 45 in a reasonable distance, it's probably not the accelerator pump.
Do a compression check, you are down on power.

The accelerator pump is not causing your problem, and there's nothing alarming in the two photos you posted.

Check your float level. Just recently my car would go up to 45 and start surging. Took my carburetor apart and the floats were stuck down against the wall of the carburetor. Readjusted the float level to even with the base of the carburetor when you flip it upside down. Put it all back together and runs like a champ. Granted mines a 1945 Holley. But I would check your float level.
