I am converting my 1969 Barracuda to a Holly Sniper 1 fuel system. I have the new Sniper fuel tank with built in pump. I also have a regulator I was going to put on with gauge and it is unclear to me how to plumb the fuel return line. The regulator says to run the return line back to the tank from the bottom of the regulator, and the throttle body unit also says to run the return line from the tb to the tank return. Can I plug the return port on the regulator and run the return directly from the Holly tb to the tank? Or should the two return lines be connected before returning to tank. Finally, the 6an fittings came in a bag separate from the regulator. Where they connect to the npt ports of the regulator, I believe they should have rubber o rings, correct? The plug that came with the regulator has an o ring on it. Thanks for the input. Here are a few pics. Getting closer to dropping my 408 into the car.

Also, the Sniper manual shows a pre pump filter and a post pump filter. The Sniper tank diagram only shows one filter after the tank. Should there be 2 filters, and if so, what micron filtration? Or is1filter enough outside the tank. 10 or 100 micron?

Hello bricud,

If I’m interpreting your post and pictures correctly to answer your questions we will need a little more info.

You say you are using a “new Sniper fuel tank with built in pump”.
is the pump / tank a return less system OR a return style? If it’s a return less, then it should have a regulator built in. If return style, then then yes, the return will go back to the tank. Please provide the part number of the tank / pump and or pictures of them. We also need the working pressure and GPM of the pump.

The Sniper has a built-in regulator in the TB (where the return AN is connected) thus no need for an additional regulator Unless you have removed the internal diagram.

If you have a sock (Holley hydramat) on the internal in tank pump, then you need not have the pre filter, But you will need the 10 Micron filter before the sniper. I use the Holley 162-550 filter.

You can use Part # AT100199ERL to install the inline liquid filled gage.

Hope this helps.

Haven't heard anything. Any comments? I think I will plug the bottom of the regulator and run the return from the throttle body back to the gas tank.

Why a regulator? I used the Sniper in tank sending unit and pump and it eliminates a return line and it regulates the pressure. If memory serves me right the 10 filter is after the pump 100 before the Sniper. I did my Valiant and a Charger that way.

If you're using a regulator, I'd think plug the TB and run return from regulator.

As far as filters, go. I ran a 100 micron after the pump and then a 10 micron before the TB.

Hello bricud,
Two of us have commented thus far......

I did a Tanks.Inc in tank pump with the 'corvette' regulator/filter mounted to the frame near the tank, 1 line up to the engine bay/throttle bodies.

It is a sniper efi conversion tank with built in pump. I believe the part number is SNE-19-434. I ordered the optional higher volume pump. The one that came with it was 255 lph and I think the one I ordered was about 300 or more lph. It is made to run at 58-60 psi with it's internal regulator. I went with the larger pump because I am running about 550 hp and I think the 255 lph would be marginal for that HP. It has a return line on it. It also has the sock in the tank. It has 3 connections, feed, return, and vent. It also has a separate vent line on the tank to connect to the filler tube. I know it has a built in regulator, but I bought the regulator to use before I bought the tank. I am basically using it for a fuel pressure gauge mount. Thanks for all of your input.

Hello bricud,
Pump spec looks good....
I question the "It is made to run at 58-60 psi with it's internal regulator" because looking at the spec for the SNE-19-434 it does not show any regulator...
Anyway run the supply from the tank with the 10 micron filter and use the internal sniper regulator with a return line and you will be fine.
