How can I fix my loose gear selector?

Auto on column.

Problem:
The on-column gear selector feels loose/has play in it.

You can still get it into gear and it stays in gear, just seems to slide too easily and you can over-shoot where you want it to go without much effort.

Also look at the pin that holds the shifter to the column, cause the hole for the pin gets egged out.

hmmmmm......or maybe it might be time to get that aftermarket floor shifter...

Figured out that I had not done a good job re-positioning the steering wheel after I had lowered it to remove the instrument gauge cluster.

Once I went back and made sure I had the column in just as it had been in originally the gear selector miraculously worked better! love those types of fixes!
