This is on my 64 /6 with December 63 build date. Some of you are going to say "Ya that's how I always do it". Well I didn't know so I'm passing this on for the other /6 newbies. After soaking the rockers over night, poking a guitar string, using two cans of brake cleaner....Nothing. Some barely would pass air through weep hole and others completely blocked. I needed to clean the VC and thought I'll use the pressure washer for the 50 year old gunk. Well marbles fall unto place....Here is how I did it.

What you need: Heavy work boots, safety glasses and a pressure washer.

Put the rockers on the shaft.

Step, clamp, weigh down, some method on the rockers on the adjuster end. You want the weep hole facing up.

Put pressure washer in pencil mode and spray down the weep hole. Watch out (safety glasses) since the water will shoot out the top of the rocker.

Have fun getting wet. Craig

I use this stuff called Motogard Heavy Duty Degreaser ( it's pink in colour)....it WILL take the skin off ya hands.
It will remove baked on carbon from pistons, and anything else.
Just don't let anything alloy sit in it without being scrubbed for too long....it will eat it.
You'll notice with the piston, I didn't buff it with a wire brush.....just scrubbed it with a stiff nylon bristle brush.

Gees mate, that stuff works!
Where didja buy it?

I bought it from Repco....I buy it by the 20 litre drum....about 40 odd dollars.....you can water it down....but on heavy crap, just use it straight.
It will take the shine off 2pack paint too.

I pulled the little freeze plugs from the end of the rocker shaft. I can usually find new ones at the auto parts store. With both ends open its easy to clean.
The rockers I use thin wire and soaking in acetone. Once clean and re assembled , it is nice to see the oil flow from the rockers like it should.
