I’m getting REALLY tired of fixing **** around here!

If the house was built in an unincorporated area, there probably wasn't much inspection (if any) done. That is one of the many downfalls of buying a "used" home. The house the wife and I bought about 10 years ago was an electricians nightmare. Fixtures wired about ceiling, no box, wires twisted together with electrical tape. The real killer was, we were replacing the electric range and oven, I pulled it out to unplug the unit. Once out, there was a black ball of electrical tape connecting the house wiring (solid strand to the range wiring, multi strand) no box. I shut the power down, cut out the ball and installed the proper electrical box to plug in the new unit. I think I've finally gotten all of the electrical issues sorted and fixe, but I'm not holding my breath.

Nice! I hope that’s the extent of your expenses, and that soon you get to stop paying, and start “playing”, as it were.

My biggest upcoming expense will be to have about 200 feet of natural gas line run (underground) to the building. Initially I considered doing it myself, but I’m behind schedule and running out of time, so I’ve decided to farm this out. Still waiting on bids….
I run a euro car repair biz .
Been working out of it all along .
It was just a mess but not many options in my hood another 5 years and everything will be paid off can semi retire and spend all my time on my toys
Now it just when I get i few minutes between jobs do I get to play with them

8 years? That would make me 68, and I don’t know what sort of shape I’ll be in then, so I’m busting my *** on it now so I can (hopefully) get some enjoyment out of it before it’s too late. Sounds a little morbid, I know, but I’ve never had a “shop” before, and I’m trying to get this place in shape ASAP so I can get onto my projects…
Built shops for work & at home. You'll get it ready to work in, but you know there'll be more changes later, as you are never really done.

Sorry to hear that, but it sounds somewhat familiar. We’re about 2 miles outside of the city limits, and while Building Permits are (allegedly) required, a lot of work gets done on the weekends under our own version of “don’t ask, don’t tell”.

He doesn’t think so in the winter .. lol
But he’s only a hop, skip, and a jump from BIR during the rest of the year!

Speaking of……My wife has never heard (felt!) a Top Fuel engine at full cry, and one of these days I want to take her up there and scare the bejeeziz out of her!

Yeah, that’s been on my mind quite a bit. I can plan only so far, and while I’m trying to get it right the first time, I know I’ll be kicking myself later over something or other.

In the 90s. I drove my 73 340 4sp Dart from Boise to BIR and back to race the Champion Auto Parts muscle car series . Ran high 12s using a Carter I grabbed off the shelf , blew the dust off and slapped it on . Lol
I thought tech would notice my holley as not stock… they wouldn’t have .

I feel your pain. Redoing other peoples shiatty work is annoying as hell. It gets even worse when I have to first work on a tool to use before getting to repairing said shiatty work.
