After a month long search for a new daily driver, I just signed the papers on my newest Mopar! Its a 2004 Neon R/T 5 speed with everything except leather, which I didnt want anyhow. The best part about the car is its rated at 36 mpg! Thats a really good thing considering we are looking at $3+ per gallon gas this summer. The bad news is with the down payment and such, the 73 Swinger is going to have to be put on hold for a bit, which is not a huge deal because I have enough parts together to get me by for a while. Ill post some pics when I bring her home on Saturday. :thumblef:

As far as moding the Neon, Ive got some rims picked out, they are the 17x7.5 Falken Torque 5s in gunmetal finish, but im not sure which tires Ill run yet. Then I am going to fab up some upper strut braces, maybe some sport springs, rechip it and possibly a cold air kit, but thats about it. I want to keep it reliable, but improve the handling and power just a bit without killing the great gas mileage.

You were just saying in your first post that you will have less money for fixing up your Swinger because of buying the Neon. Now you are going to spend money on the Neon to customize it? The Neon R/T is a cool driver that will save you money on gas, leave it alone, drive it, enjoy it and spend the money on your Swinger, man. We have to keep these older cars on the road, you know, they like us are not getting any younger.

CONGRATS!
those little cars get with the program for sure. Alot of fun to drive.
Remember speeding tickets get costly! :)

please dont forget about the '73 though I agree we need to keep the old cars on the road.

have fun!

Oh no, dont think Im going to drop all of that stuff into the Neon right away, thats all down the road stuff with the exception of the strut bars, they wont cost a dime because they can be made with bits and pieces of stock laying around the shop, and Ill have them powder coated by a buddy that owes me a favor or two and works for a powder coating company. As soon as the Intrepid gets sold, that money will be used to replace what Im taking away from the 73's budget for the down payment on the Neon. The 73 will definately get where I was planning on it being before the Neon gets the goodies. :thumblef:

Like 340dartswinger said it is your stuff do what you want and I agree. I would just hate to see your Swinger become the redheaded step child as they call it and get left in the weeds. It's good to hear for your Swingers sake that you are going to pace yourself with the R/T. Enjoy your new ride!

Well,I got her home last night and shot a few pics this morning. Here she is!
