So, you may have seen me mention that @mopardug was kind enough to let me help him put an 8 3/4 together for a car he is building. I have it all done. Ready for him to pick up. But, he decided he wanted 11" brakes on it, instead of 10". No problem. No big deal, right? Well......it sorta is. Here is why.

We all know what happened to Roy (SGBARRACUDA) (RIP). So Doug purchased some 11" brakes from Roy before his death. Doug and his wife, along with his mother just met Kitty and I last night for supper and to drop off the brakes. He said as we were loading them up, he didn't know what all was there or if I would need anything additional. I saw Roy's handwriting on the box and also on the drums, where he'd written the new freshly machined diameters on both drums. We came home and I set everything in the shop floor last night.

Just a little while ago, I went out to sorta take inventory of what all was in the box and make notes of anything needed, if something was needed. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. This is the kind of guy you dealt with if you ever dealt with Roy. Talk about first class. I almost got emotional.

Roy was a "stand up guy". I met him a few years ago at the SGMP Mopar drags & swap meet. I will always value his friendship & quick wit.

Has anyone talked to Roy's wife to see how she is doing?

RRR, thanks. I was just curious, I know they had a real thing going between the two of them. I talked to her once after Roy had his heart attack.

I never had the pleasure of dealing with him, but everything I have read or heard about Roy tells me that he was a good guy and a great person to know.

Wow....stuff looks brand new. Roy always over delivered when you bought stuff from him. I bought some stuff from under the hood of that beater truck he was parting right before he left us. I just glanced into the box when it got here, and it was typical Roy packing......UPS couldn't have busted it! A few days ago, I was moving the box and opened it up and got the stuff out. There was a baggie zip tied to the battery tray with all the bolts, and another one attached to the windshield washer jug with all the screws and an extra pump. I just stood there a minute to think that I wished I'd got to shake his hand, because he was such a good guy I never got to meet in person.
Great post Rob, to remember Roy.

Thanks for posting this Rob. I'm not surprised.

Met Roy the first time few years ago at one of the show's over in Ocala. Actually my son met him first and he sat there and talked with my son for at least a half hour about my boys car and Mopars in general. I was out picking parts in the meantime. He loved the youngsters.

We'd meet at shows, trip to Plant City, hanging out, gettin other parts he would give my son for free. Absolutely wouldn't take a dime for anything my son wanted. And was always very fair when I bought something from him.
Roy was just one of those kind of people you like to be around, you know? A big guy with a giant heart.

Yeah I still get choked up. Not like we were lifelong friends either, you know? I think he had that effect on a lot of people.

That's a perfect way to describe Roy.

In my 59 years on this earth, I've only met a handful of folks like Roy. And I spent 21 years living all over the states as well as England.

I mentioned before he was my Secret Santa the past two years. This past Christmas he spent probably $150 on my gifts...and all well thought out. Roy was that kind of guy.

Every time I see two rubber marks in my rear view mirror I remember the Sur-Grip I got from him several months ago.

I have some parts from him that I have yet to put to use and many that I already have. I will keep him in my signature as long as possible.

Sorry to hear. Had no idea that he past. Condolences and prayers for his family.
