I'm in Belgium and have just acquired a 1969 Plymouth Valiant Signet (170 slant 6, VIN VL21A98177110) and was hoping someone knowledgeable could confirm what parts I need to order to do a full rebuild. I read there are 10 and 11" variants, but I wasn't sure how they are measured exactly and would hate to import a bunch of parts from Rockauto that don't fit all the way from the US. I hope these images are clear enough:

While on the subject of brakes/wheels. Am I correct in assuming a 1969 slant 6 would have the small bolt pattern? Inside stud to stud measurement is about 3.4 inches, outside 4.2 inches.

Good day, to measure the brake size, you need to measure the inside of the drum, from interpolating from the picture it appears the inside diameter of the drum is around 23 cm which converts to 9 inch brakes which would be standard for a Valiant with a slant 6 engine. Again from interpolating on the picture it appears you have 5 x 4" or the small bolt pattern wheels/lug spacing which would be standard for the slant 6 vehicle in 1969.

@wawarnick: thanks for confirming. According to Rockauto, the car should have 9" drums all around like you said, but I wasn't 100% sure the euro spec cars are the same.

Are there recommended wheel cylinder brands? Rockauto has a bunch and I'm not too familiar with US parts, all i know is Dorman should be avoided in most cases.

I have used Dorman for years, but I am old and maybe there are better wheel cylinders today!!!! I just never buy from Rock in their "economy" parts group. Use the premium stuff. Not hardly any difference in cost anyway. Good luck!
