Hi everyone.

I want to sell my 70' Duster 340, and I can't find the title ANYWHERE!!!

State of Ohio says they do not have a record.

How do I do this?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks...

Are you the legal owner? has the car ever been plated in your state or a nother state. What bills of sale do you have for the car? has the car ever had a storage plate? Do you have insurance papers showing the VIN number and you being the owner?Mrmopartech

I know that in some states if you have a registration or even previous insurance papers you or whomever the car was last registered under can apply for a duplicate title. If this can't be done you can try Broadway Title, although I'm not sure if they operate in your state. Hope this helps, Mike

I restore old motorcycles as well as cars and lots of times I get bikes without a title. In NY it's easy to get paper on old vehicles but in other states that's not the case. What we do in those circumstances is use a title service. What they do is buy the vehicle from you on paper, register in in their stste and re sell it to you with the paper they got from their state. Some states like Nevada,Alabama,New Hampshire and others have really easy rules for older vehicles and this is where these services are located. As long as you know the vehicle is not stolen this is a good solution to your problem. It costs around 150 - 200 bucks and it's easy to do. I hope this helps. You can find these services in Hemmings,Old Cars and other publications. Good luck. Ed

Thanks everyone. I have the car insured. I'm going to try to get an antique tag for the car with the insurance papers and a hand-written bill of sale.

That may be enough to get a buyer for the car.

I have an 18-month boy who is obsessed with throwing things in the trash. I'm pretty sure the title is in the town dump. :)

You can also obtain a car title from one of the car title companies out there. Same thing happened on my son's Dart Sport, cost us 140.00 but we did get a state legal title.

you'll find it about 10 years after it's been sold! :D
