I am in the process of setting up a 360 LA with Magnum heads.

I have researched the stock Magnum valve springs are there are lots of opinions about using them or not using them....I will be running a .470 lift cam as it stands right now.

Can I use the stock springs?

Engine will rarely see 4000+ rpm.

Thanks!

Stock magnum springs were designed to be used with roller lifters and I think they are less than ideal for a flat tappet cam. I tried running the stock springs and it seemed like they always made noise no matter what I did. I don't know the specs on the springs but I think they are pretty light duty. Manciniracing.com has aftermarket springs that should work. I believe you have to replace the retainers too.
