Mastic/Pitch for floor joint

Hi,

does anyone know the name of the stuff they put on all the floor joint (ex: floor joint to firewall). This thing as harden after all these years, and a lot is gone.

Is it a mastic or a kind of asphalt pitch (that asphalt thing is suppose to stink a lot and for a long time)?

I just bought some yesterday at the local parts store. I just asked for automotive joint sealer. There are two kinds. Brush on and some that comes in a caulking tube. I got the caulking tube type and it was called PF207.
It is paintable.
