I may have discussed this before I really cannot remember for sure forgive me if this has already been discussed . I am currently using Lucas racing oil which has the highest concentration of zinc available. My engine builder is recommending that I use Brad penn racing oil. I have not been using methanol long enough to be able to tell for sure if my Oil selection is going to be okay. But I have been told that synthetic oil is not compatible with Methanol. brad penn oil and Lucas racing oil are both semi synthetic. There are some very good conventional racing oils like driven and valvoline I am wondering what conventional wisdom is on this?

I can vouch for Brad Penn oil. We got 10-12 runs out of it at my old shop. The biggest issue we ran into when switching to methanol was condensation inside of the motor. Methanol absorbs a ton of moisture and the motor ran so cool that it had trouble burning it off completely. We pulled the valve covers after every event and there'd be standing water almost every time.

For whatever reason, we observed less condensation using the BP oil. I have no idea why. It was the only variable aside from marginal differences in relative humidity. Aside from the condensation, it's lubricating qualities were on par with market. Amsoil had just released their Dominator line when I switched shops, so I didn't get a chance to mess with it. I've heard good things. It was spendy at the time. But a drop in the bucket all things considered

I’ve never had an issue with condensation from methanol. Oil isn’t milky either. I only use methanol for the pass and switch back to gas and let the engine get 190-200. I pull the breathers in the pits and that’s it.

Yep. That's one of the benefits of dual fuel. If you do a run on methanol and then switch to pump the additional heat will burn off a lot of the condensation. The engines that ran on straight methanol had the moisture buildup. Or they ran it on meth and then let it sit in the trailer
