Hello all I am in need of some assistance! I have a 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger. It is a real 340 car and it was originally a 4 speed car.It does now have an automatic on the column.I am wanting to put it back to 4 speed. My question is will the A833 4 speeds with the dual shifter mounting areas,B body mount and E Body mount! Will the back e body mount work with the original hole in the floor on an A body car,or will I just have to keep looking for the correct A body 4 speed.Any help will be greatly appreciated. I do not want to do any Modifications to the original Hole in the floor AT ALL! I really want to keep it pretty much original.I am going with an original style shifter. The car still retains the original pedals and floor.I do have a flywheel and bellhousing but am looking for the rest of the items.

Thanks

I do not have a trans yet! I know an A body will work but have had trouble locating one yet, although I see a lot of the dual shifter mount Mopar trans.I was just wondering if the rear mount on a dual pattern lines up with the hole in the floor of a A body.

I have the long tail shaft tranny in my 68 Barracuda. The rear mount is to far back for an A-body, will put the shifter in an uncomfortable position (and won't work at all with a bench set). The front mount winds up under the torsion bar cross member, I had to cut one of the bosses off for clearance (or you could dent the cross member).

To make this tranny work in an A-body you will need to fabricate bracket that bolts to the rear mount and positions the shifter forward about 9" so it comes through the floor in the stock position. I used 1/2" aluminum plate. Then you will need to make a spacer that is about 1" thick to put between the mounting adapter and the plate so the shifter is moved to the drivers side so it's positioned in the center of the hump hole.

The driver shaft will also need to be shortened about 3".

Everything else is a bolt in.

Thanks guys for the input,I have bought a couple of A body 4 speeds.I had thought from looking at the dual mount transmissions that it would not fit in the proper place of an A body.I already picked up one pretty nice trans and another is being shipped so I will have a spare! I just did not want to make any modifications to this prticular car.

Thanks

Bobby

The location of the rear mount is the same, the mounts are different,Mrmopartech
If you're talking about SHIFTER MOUNT POSITION, Sorry, but that's not right.
A body is mid-way of B & E body in the positioning of the mounting holes for the shifter plate.
Now, if you mean that the trans CROSSMEMBER mounting pad is the same, then yes, but only for the '70-up dual mount trannies and all A body 4 speeds, not the pre '70 B body 4 speed trans.
BUT, even '73-up A bodies share the same isolator (tranny mount) with the '70-up B and E body trannies.

A mounting point for the shifter could be made, with some fabrication, for the B/E trans into an A body.

Mark.
