MSD Ignition 8984 Anyone using this to lower starting crank resistance? Is in necessary with 24° initial timing?

I say go for it. Nothing wrong with a start retard if you have a locked out dizzy and it's hard to start that way.

race only right? I have an msd dizzy at 22 degrees and it's not bad to start even with a trunk mounted bat.
