She survived a plane crash tonight while doing night flying test. Was in communication with another student pilot in another plane. Everything good, then no contact, other student circled back 3 times. Nada. Landed and asked about her, was told she was in Sarnia hospital. LOTS of bruising, cuts a concussion but alive! Crawled thru windshield and field/brush to a side road. Flagged a car down being driven by 2 ladies who called EMT.
Everyone is just quivering.
Under investigation obviously.
VERY "LUCKY"
Here is a beautiful picture she posted the other night.

Holy Toledo!
Rescued herself even.

I tell the kid all the time, whatever happens, identify your options, make the best decision you can with the info you have, and move forward.

We didn't cover plane crash, let alone being the pilot, but I'll mention this one.
Teachable moment to anyone who will listen.

Wow, just wow.

Saw the plane upside down in the field, she must have had some control to get it there..... Hopefully she mends up quick, sorts it out and "gets back on the horse".

Yeah she must have had some sense, besides the crawling out etc, to have the instincts to "land" it.
A couple weeks back she went to start the plane and it caught on fire.
This was strike 2, not sure if she's continuing on this career path.

Gotta be honest, I don't know if I would go back to flying after that, so glad she made it out ok. I was considering a career in aviation at one time myself, even took a couple of lessons, just couldn't afford to continue with it, really wanted to fly helicopters.

Yep, my Uncle(her Grampa) is hoping she changes a career path. No way in hell I would be.

Like I said she got it in the field somehow. I'm doubting spatial disorientation or spin, or she wouldn't be with us anymore. Betting on an engine failure and if so she pulled it off like a champ. Back in the saddle, lets go....
