well i don't know on this one guys. i got a drivers side exhaust manifold from a 340. it is supposed to be from a 1973 340 to be exact. the strange thing about it is this casting number and casting date on it. the casting number is #3614368. i look this up and it comes back as a 69-70 dart 340. i can live with that. the casting date though is 10-30-72? :sad1: just how can this be? am i crazy or is something not right here. the dates and numbers are very clear. there is no way to mistake these numbers at all. i can post a pic if need be. let me know what is going on here..........

The world of MOPARS LOL,
You say it came off a 73..
Hummmm, I would think the casting dates and numbers are correct if they were molded in and not just stamped on; and "were" ment to fit the 73 Dart.

Perhaps the 69-70 is a misprint??

well i have looked at several sites for casting numbers. they all say #3614368 is a 69-70 dart 340 left side. but the casting date says clearly 10-30-72. these are cast numbers not stamped in. i can't figure it out......

Could it be that the 69s were modified in 72 but also meant for a replacement fit as far back to 69? Just a stab in the dark..

well woulnd't the casting #number change to show this? the manifold looks like any 340 manifold on the drivers side i have seen before....i'll post a pic....

do they look like these?

no definetly not those accurate repops....these are cast like ma mopar w/ numbers and dates and stamps, plus it has the flange for the heat riser

I came up with the same thing you did. I wonder if they it is a newer replacment manifold for the older 340's.

Did I miss something? Why is this important? Or are we just having fun with Mystery Trivia today? As things are cast I would say the info is incorrect and that it is the same manifold for a greater range of 340's

it is not on fire, but the fact the casting date dosen't corrispond with the casting number just dosen't add up. that is all. i would just like to figure this out to see if i am missing something on this...

You can tell it is for post 70' engines because it has the mounting bosses for the hot air tube shield. That would be the dead give away to me that it would be a '73 manifold. The info I have says a 3614368 is a '72-'74 LH "A" 340/360 manifold.

if that is the case then that is cool.... i haven't seen anything that pointed it the 72-74 range. everywhere i looked it said 69-70 left side 340 dart

I have another ? regarding this. What would be the difference btwn 69-70 left side 340's and a 68 left side 340? I would think they would all would be the same especially 68-69.

i belive all of the 340 left sides are the same. there may be some difference on the 68, as i have always heard this was the best year. why i don't really know though.....

thanks chuck for the link! thanks for the help guys, mystery solved! :salute:

good ,glad it's solved,, I really didn't want to get upside down in the engine compartment to shoot a pic of the one on the 72 Cuda...
