When I had the pawnshop and we got a tv or stereo equipt to sell. I would always clean them before putting them on the shelves. I would spray 409 on them and the tobacco tars would run off them. Sometimes took an hour or so of spraying to get them clean.
Today, I was washing Natalie's back window. I sprayed 409 on the rubber mounts that go around and holds in the window.
I worked on it for 2 hours and I think I need another hour or two,to get them clean of the cigarette tars and nicotine. This is totally repulsive.
If I can not clean it, I may have to sell her.

Probably never get it clean, better save yourself and sell it to me!! Ill take one for the team on this one!! Geof

That's probably volatiles from the rubber washing off. You just screwed the status of your car as a survivor.

I was just reading up on what makes a survivor car and Natalie is not a survivor. She is not a virgin any longer

What would you suggest? I have always used 409, but open to suggestions.

I always used a product specifically for car interiors, such as the one Armorall makes. Even then being gentle, using a soft brush, not using too much product and wiping the residue off with clean water. I remember as a kid I used 409 on my Mom's Valiant and it took the finish off the dash.

The brown stuff from the rubber gasket might not be cigarette smoke but just the rubber kind of dissolving.
