I picked up a roller 360 and the numbers stamped in the block are 53006921360. Is this a 92 block? Also an interesting fact is that it has a la timing cover with the mechanical fuel pump housing blocked off. I'm thinking previous owner blocked it off because the cam has no place for the eccentric and used the la cover for the water pump. I broke my socket trying to get the balancer bolt out.(it was cracked to start)

I just looked at my '91 360 roller motor. It has the fuel pump block off on the timing cover just like yours. I'm guessing they were this way from the factory. Don't think this motor has ever been messed with. I can't help you with the ID numbers.

I talked to an engine builder and he checked the numbers to his book and it is a 89-91 pre magnum roller. I just can't figure out the harnomic balancer. Did they use two different balancers for auto or manual? My crank does have a pilot bushing for a manual tranny. Here is a pic of the balancer. Doesn't look anything like the on on my non roller 360? Any ideas?

I have a 1991 360 Dodge pickup and it hse the fuel pump block off plate. I kow that iit is original because I bought the truck from the original owner and he had all the records for it.

I know about the fuel pump block off thanks though. I am going to get the snout adapter to use a mechanical pump.. I need to know more about this balancer. I don't want to end up killing it by using the wrong balancer with my 904 and neutral balance comverter. I'm thinking I can just take the balancer and my B and M flexplate from the non roller 360 and put it on the roller block, Anyone know for sure?

I just got out my Hollander interchange and it does show two different harmonic balancers used, one for automatic and one for a standard.
Then I looked up the crankshaft and it shows to be the same for automatic and standard transmissions.

Based on that I would assume the balancer you have would be set up to balance the standard flywheel. Why else would they have used differnt balancers and the same crankshaft?

Like I said this is an assumption based on Hollander Interchange so maybe someone will weigh in.

Harmonic Balancer shows 1978 thru 1993 on Hollander but who knows about aftermarket.

Thanks OKLA:) That makes me feel better. I believe the non magnum roller cranks were the same as the non roller 360. I don't think they changed until 92 for the magnum roller engines.

I had one of them weird balancers, on a 360 i was building afew years ago found out it came out of a rv motor home, Someone on here told me that the rv motors had a differnt stroke on the crank a dog for performance, I changed my crank out and used the balancer that came with it, Mabey someone elese will confirm this

crap, I didn't even know there was a rv 360 with a different stroke.....I sure hope someone knows for sure. How did you determine the stroke on the rv crank? or any crank for that matter.

To start with the number 53006921360 you posted needs the 360 droped off the end because the 360 is the cubic inches.

You have one of the common engines. When have you ever seen a standard transmission in a late model motor home?

Read the following information then change the harmonic balancer.

1989-’90
The 360 got a new block with three cast bosses in the valley for the roller lifter holddowns. Although all of these engines had fuel injection, they continued to use the cam with the long snout along with either the eccentric or the special cup-shaped washer. Both intermediate cam journals had holes to meter oil topside. The 318 and 360 cams are different and shouldn’t be interchanged. The most common block castings are 4315830 and 53006921. The later block (53006921) was used in ’91, too, so check the oil filter boss to see whether it’s a ’89-’90 or ’91 before using it for either application.

1991
This was the year of the corporate oil filter, so the 360 block was changed along with the 238 and the 318. The oil filter boss was 0.250" shorter so both the plate and adapter were modified accordingly. The rear main cap had a dowel pin and may or may not have the recess for the o-ring. The cap was still grooved for the rear pan seal. It had the old style ears for the motor mounts. The block was the 53006921 casting that was carried over from ’90, so once again you have to physically check the length of the filter boss to be sure if it fits a ’90 or ’91.

By the way the stroke on a rv is the same as the pickup. Only difference that was done was a camshaft.

Yea' I liked it too. It also lists the same crank for all 71-89 360 engines. I feel better again:) Thanks for all the help.

Wish I could have been more help here, seeings how I am such a Roller Cam LA advocate.

I'll be honest and say that I have never had a complete 88-91 360 in my possession to dissect and build...so your experience is another learning tid-bit.

Good Info on that link, I favorited' it as well.
