Hey guys, going to be building a turbo 318 for my 69 swinger and take the new 408 stroker out. Does anyone know where I can get cheap piping for the kit so I can cut and weld everything? Should I be going 2.5 inch or 3 inch off the manifold to the hot side of the turbo? Also, I have a pair of 340 manifold or 360 manifolds I can use, what would be easier and better to build off of? Thanks guys

alot of guys just use "weld-els" and basic pipe from a steel supply house. Weld els are easy to find and work with. you can get them in stainless too. Just google "weld els" and you should come up with all you need. Not sure if the manifolds could be used. you will have to do some experimental placing of components first to come up with a plan.

I built a 318 turbo mag and used 2.5 409 15ga. stainless with 4 flex joints, all v band. 3" stainless down pipe. In hindsight I would have used 2.25-2.5" heavy weld "els" and built a log manifold. The reason is it would have been easier to build log manifolds and they wrap up pretty nice to retain heat with heavier gauge steel wall. A lot of guys have success with swapping mag manifolds from side to side, they're ball and socket style. Although power steering box cannot be used on an a body. Only manual or a different style box. I've always though it would be smart to just run your crossover pipe behind the oil pan and you can retain all accessories, so it's really up to you.
