Hi folks!

I've already tried searching, but the search function will NOT work on my computer...I'm sure it's something on my end, but anyway, here goes:

I am looking at buying a Dart not too far from me that is a 75 Sport with a 72 front clip, the hood has pins. How hard would it be to re-install hinges and springs (provided I can find them)?

Thanks!

You can find them for sure. Shouldn't be too hard, but I'm sure you will have to take the front fenders off. So it involves some work.

Thanks! If I remember correctly, the front fenders are essentially bolt-on, so no cutting, welding, any of that. I can do some grunt work, but I'm not a good welder. At all.

Yea they are bolt on. Some on the top of the fender, and there are two on the bottom. There are some in the front and a support under the front. Not too difficult, but will take a little time

Yup, nuts and bolts and then maybe some gap work to do in the end. But no torch or weld work should be necessary unless someone has already been into it with either of those

Beware of that!

Greetings and welcome aboard from western NY!

The hinges (with springs) just hang on the sides of the cowl with a retainer type washer to keep them from sliding off. Question now is are the pins holding the front of the hood down because it may be missing the center latch section that is usually bolted to the upper and lower radiator support.

Ah...yeah, I thin
You might check with FABO member @Mtrhead who is pretty local to you. He may have extra hinges and springs.
Excellent!!

You can get NEW hood pin sets for the front that go with the hinges and latches.

Here is a factory assembly line diagram for installing Duster hood pins

On a Dart you can get to the hinges enough to get them on and off by taking off the splash shields at the back of the front fenders. If you aren't taking the fenders off for other reasons, that seems a lot less disruptive.

Thanks, that does seem less disruptive, as long as I can get my hands back in there. :)

Don't expect to save the "push nut thingy" (a technical term). Better to assume that it will get trashed and be ready to get/use a new one. Don't be concerned to get the push nut tight against the hinge and body, you need some play for the arm of the hinge to lay flat to the side of the hood. The push nut just keeps the hinge from falling off when you are mounting the hood and if you ever have to take it off and on again.
