Was wondering the old oil filter cant remember what brand that i removed had biger holes in it,and the one I just install ,last oil change has smaller holes in it dont want to say what brand tho.Can the smaller holes slow the flow down.

Dunno if it would slow it down or speed it up. I mean on one hand when you put your thumb over a garden hose the water comes out with more velocity but then on the other hand when people do head work to increase flow they make ports bigger. :toothy10:

but heres a website with some amazing oil filter information

I have seen filters with big holes, smaller holes, more holes, less holes and oblong slots.

If two filters have the same number of holes and one has smaller the smaller will present more restriction than the one with bigger holes. That being said all for cars have to pass SAE tests to be acceptable to the car manufacturers so the one with small holes very likely presents little or no restriction at the flow rate that the pump produces.

Problem with that oil filter study is contains no facts about how a filter works, its just a physical examination of how they are made with some assumptions on how they work which aren't substantiated.
