I am pulling the 3rd member to change out the fluid, is it ok to spray the inside gears off with some brake/parts cleaner while its out? Its an 8 3/4 with a clutch sure grip, thanks :glasses7:

I clean most things with brake clean and never had any problem.

I even spray out the bottom of the valve body and anything else I can get to when changing atf

Unless the final part needs to be totally grease free (such as for paint, loctite or gasket sealant) I use carb cleaner for my basic spray cleaner. Carb cleaner will leave a slight film, but cuts oil better. Carb cleaner and an air hose for most stuff, followed by brake cleaner and an air hose if it needs to be "dry".

I clean differentials by driving a few minutes easy with the oil replaced with kerosene. Cuts the sludge.
