Old mustang.. ignition key stuck- need a locksmith

I’m trying to build my old man’s car and the key gets stuck in the ignition.. I managed to hotwire it and test the engine.. its just the key.. should I call a locksmith?

Could just remove the lock cylinder,take it to the locksmith. (Saves you that nasty emergency call Bill..) Or buy a replacement lock cylinder (already,with a dedicated ignition key with it...),at any Napa /Pep Boys /O 'Reilly's,or any parts house.My opine,anyway...

Try and lubricate the ignition with some spray lubricant , just a little should do

if a little lubrication doesn't help.. then yes.. call a locksmith

I would just change out the cylinder. $6

Is the ignition on the dash? If so, turn the key to the left to acc. Take a paper clip, and stick it in the tiny hole next to the key. Turn even further to the left, and the cylinder will come out. Then you can lube it up, or take it to the locksmith. If it's on the column, I don't know.
