pinion seal question

does anybody know offhand what the pinion seal part # is on an 8.75 with a 489 case.

I replaced one in my 489 case, bought it at napa. They only list 2 part numbers for seals and I can't remember which one I bought. It did the trick, no more leaky.

They list part #18708 for 1.375 and 1.875 pinion
And part #18912 for pinion 1.750.

Not really sure how the pinion seal works for big and small, unless the part of the pinion the seal rides on is the same for both? I've never seen a 741 pinion so I'm not sure.

Edit: After looking a bit more #18708 is the one you definitely want. Cheers

And the seal doesn't ride on any of those pinion shafts.
It rides on the yoke, so actual pinion shaft size doesn't matter does it?

I find 2931862 in my parts books for both the 742 and 489. I have a 7216 and a 18912 in my parts for the 489 and a 5126 seal that I wrote 18708 on for my 742.

Guess I've got the seals mixed around in my parts.
