I have a car that I did 5 years ago with my usual DA to bare metal, epoxy primer, filler, epoxy primer over filler, high fill urethane primer, epoxy primer with reducer whole car as sealer, Topcoat. I did it in single stage urethane. I am dong a color change for the wife. I am dead out of epoxy primer and 4 hrs trip to to pant store and 1 1/2 week thru mail. After I scuff, is high fill urethane good and then topcoat, or should I seal with epoxy primer?
Another question. I wonder is it necessary to seal over filler with epoxy primer or is urethane primer just as good?
I am probably just anal!! ???

You really need to call a paint supplier that deals in the product line you used and or will be using. Most generally if the base is good, You can sand what you need. Cut your 2 part epoxy with acetone by up to 10%, spray it as a sealer and then go for your top coats. Now this depends on lots and lots of things. Compatibility, wax removal, surface adhesion, just to name a few.

Short answer I stick to. After everything is done. It all gets hit with a seal coat of 2 part 10% reduced epoxy. Period. Hasn't failed me yet. Knock, Knock

Depends on the paint manufacturer.

If the high fill primer is too porous, then a sealer is necessary.

Other than that, it's personal preference. People tend to do it to help hide fine sand scratches. Also to keep a more uniform color.

I only use epoxy primer on bare metal, urethane high build primer is fine most can be thinned to use as a sealer, as far as bare bondo must be primed and sanded before paint.

Looks like some more Epoxy and high fill urethane primer. Last 6-7 cars, I have used products from PPG Shopline, SPI, TCP all have worked for me. I am getting way to old for body work, even if they are just me toys.

Read your tds. Is your primer d.t.m. ? All this matters.
The TDS will say for either epoxy primers or high fill urethane primers, apply to just about anything. I see DTM in the name of some epoxies, soe not, I have applied them to bare, over urethane primers, arylic urethanes, never a problem. I have never applied anything but Epoxy primers over bare metal, except 40 years ago when you could buy red oxide laquer primer and before the fancy stuff.
The most details tech info I have ever received came from Southern Polyurethanes, but then again, I speak Southern.
