Can anyone tell me if a jeep cherokee 8.25 w/355 gears will fit a
1973- /6 dart swinger? I think it will, but does anyone know positively:cheers:

You can use the limited slip, gears and rear disc off a 96 and older jeep GC but you'll need an a body 8.25 rear because the jeep rear is too wide for an a body.

1973 was first year all Darts got the 8.25 rear end

Yes starting in 73, the a body could get an 8.25 rear if order. A sbp/BBP 7.25 rear was also an option if a slant 6 or front drum brakes were ordered.
The 8.25 was the replacement for the 8.75 rear.

It can and has been done with the Jeep 8.8 and Ford Ranger both.
Both have the 4.5 x 5 bolt pattern too.
The long of the 4x4 axle needs to be cut down to the same length as the short side, and then another short side axle is used on the newly shortened side.
The perches for the springs need to be moved also.
The driveline needs to be shortened and a different yoke used at the rear.
Also, apparently the E brake connects right up to the Dart cables.

I looked into it quite a bit for the diff lock and disc brakes for the rear.
It's out there if you search it on the net.

thanks for the input. no phord parts shall touch this mopar!

Can I just use differential from jeep and put in my dart rear end? splines on axles
