couple questions, rear main seal came with a little bead sealer this is all i use to seal the rear seal, dab on the engine block dab on the rear main cap torque down to specs.

Second question cam plug just gets driven in flush, no glue or anything. I like to add rtv to freeze plugs just a little insurance.

Oil galley plug, do i just run thread sealer on the plug?

thanks guys

for the rear main seal I grease the lip, scotch write the crank. and I use flange sealant its a rem jam like paste. at gm I used it for rear main sealcaps so it would leak out . I have a spare rear flange like that
and I use right stuff silicone to stick the rubber oil pan seal to oil pan and use that and bolt it to pan overnight so it stays in place . so if you don't have one I would do that first then assemble the rear main seal. and also use a bit of Silicone to seal the oil pan after.
as for the cam plug in the rear tomorrow will send you a picture and measure how deep it is in
I light sand the plug and use permeated forma gasket 80003 ( fast setting hard drying)1C
the oil gallery plug I use the pipe sealer paste on it.
the rear main seal and oil pan area is problematic for oil leaking , so take your time

these are the stuff I use, I showed a picture of where I put the flange sealant, I always use in , I did a alfa Romeo engine and they leak from the flange of rear main , she borne dry I did it like 6 years ago, and plenty of 3.8 gm engine. and I would defiantly use the rear main insert to silicone in the oil pan gasket.
good luck

so you dab flange sealer on the rear main seal and in the flange, and the L tabs, then torque it to specs.
