Rear seat belt position

So in my 70 Swinger, regarding the rear middle seat belt, what is the proper way to position them? Male strap to the left, and female to the right, or vice versa?

Not an opinion, just an observation. This is my 1970 Dart 340 Swinger. I bought it in 1987 with 59XXX miles. Now, anything can happen over 38 years (or 55), but this is how mine looks now. No guarentee, but I'm very anal about putting things back together the way I found them.
