Refurbishing the 21k-mile '69 Valiant 100

That's nice! I had a 69, 2dr post a few years back that was 85% original paint. Slow as hell though with a 170 in it.

I thought the car was a 170 when I first saw it. I was relieved to find the 225 under the hood. It's not a slouch, I can't really fault it.

Finally took a new picture under the hood today with the replacement '73+ drum brake master cylinder (Raybestos MC36338) and the new alternator (1970+ style w/ground wire):

Turns out I have worn brake pads throughout, so she's going back into drydock until the next order of Rock Auto parts show up.

Power steering pump also has a lot of play in it and SQUEALS BEYOND BELIEF. Yet, the pump hasn't lost any fluid. Is there a way to remove and press-fit new bearings into one of these pumps with a hydraulic press?

Haha - that's more or less what I've been doing.

I can visit two of each of the big three auto parts retailers in the distance it takes to get to our local NAPA, and the only small-time private store that we have still checks their computer for the stock that's piled all around the counter. I suspect half of it isn't in the system.
