Hi all, im rebuilding 904 from our 67 cuda. Which holes do I install slide hammer into? And are they same bolt size(5/16) as pump mount bolts?
I have borrowed Tom Hand book and it states 9 and 3 o'clock(screwdrivers)but videos from boobtube show using different holes.
Thanks
Steve

Two of the holes in the oil pump and reaction shaft support plate are threaded (3/8"-16) for the removal tool(s). The following image from the factory service manual shows the holes and tools:

727 shown, 904 is similar.

Slide hammers are often used and specified in the service manual, but I use an old hub puller and two 3/8"-16 bolts.

Thanks guys, got it. No slide hammers, but 3/8 NC rod and some blocking got it.
Once I took closer look at holes, I saw the 2 that were 3/8 NC at 11 and 5 ish o'clock when facing from bottom of transmission.

If you disassemble the pump, use some hose clamps around the pump body during assembly.

Around the outside circumference to line up the 2 pump halves while retightening bolts that hold pump together
I've just set the pump in the case "inside out" and used the case itself as a lineup tool.

I wouldn't have thought the halves would be that difficult to line up with the mount bolts?
Thanks for explanation.

It's not aligning the bolts, it's aligning both halves so they are as flush & concentric as possible. If they are not, it can be more difficult to install, and may cause it to not seat square....You don't want that.

Sorry I didn’t explain that better….. but as stated, to insure pump halves aligned. ……and by the way that pump looks phenomenal! Looks like new!
