There are multiple calipers listed on the innerwebz for my car. Mostly, they are said to be made of aluminum. That may be a correct spec, may not be. While specifically listed as a valid application, some of the selling platforms say it's a 'does not fit' my car.

Has anyone here used a set of these $80/pair (prices vary considerably, have no idea the extent to which the product varies) and found them to be useful?

Thanks.

And your car is...?
And maybe a link to the calipers you are referring to?

So, you're running '73 calipers? Or '69 calipers? Or a different car entirely from your signature line? Or a different brake kit from OE?

And the 65-72 KH calipers and the 73+ calipers were all cast iron from the factory.

A link to what you're looking at would be REALLY helpful.

I did consider the signature to be self explanatory. Why write it all over again when it's stated in the first place.

It's a '73 car. It has '69 running gear... meaning drivetrain (as stated in the sig). It has the disc brake setup that a '73 340 Duster came with.

Yes. Mine are cast iron. Thus the question about using an aluminum pot.

My caliper has a stuck bleeder that I have been unable to remove after days of penetrant soaking, heat, and different applied wrenches and easy outs. Drilling it out isn't likely a good choice having to deal with the SEAT at the bottom of the hole for the bleeder.

I am missing the point of the seeming snark of some responses. Yes. I look at pictures in listings and I expect them to be correct while full well realizing they often are not. So?

The links of available calipers are similar enough from multiple vendors across the web to appear to be identical. Here's one:

JUST because they are chinese repops doesn't mean they are not any good. There was a time when anything from Japan was considered to be a joke. Now?

...which is why I asked the question for folks that have (maybe) used the calipers in question.

there wasn't any unnecessary snark. you weren't clear in what you had, what you are looking for or really communicating in a clear manner.

i don't have time to help people that don't want to put in the effort to allow me to help them.

good luck with whatever it is that you're looking for or trying to do.

Well that link is clear as mud...nfg.
Snarky responses are expected, this ain't a psychic fair.

These snarks written even AFTER a pointy finger pointing said finger at what was already written but not read. What would you like: An elementary grade 'Fun with Dick and Jane' primer?

I supplied make, model, and year with the question. What more of a 'clear manner' would you like to have been supplied...for the sake of communication?

If the reader cannot read with comprehension I s'pose all that is left is a psychic fair...from the point of view of one that cannot comprehend.

Maybe an, 'Oh. Sorry I missed it,' would fit. Or: 'I could read better, 'eh?'

Yeah. THAT is going to happen.

Off from 'ye mighty high horse c'mon down.

...or painted 'lil pony.

Here's your 1st post...am I missing something here? No year, no make, no brake info?? I'll go play with Jane, you go play with Dick.

Signatures don't mean squat. Members often have multiple cars, new acquisitions, working on a friend's or customer's car, etc. They can be out of date or as noted, don't always show up.
Guess it's easier to type out multiple bitter long-winded responses than to originally state " '73 Duster, factory discs". Four words.
Have a nice day and good luck.
Checked out.

Running gear is not equivalent to drivetrain.

So, if you properly understand the term “running gear” your signature could suggest you’re running ‘69 Dart suspension. Which wouldn’t mean ‘73 up brakes. Totally vague regardless.

And yeah, if you’re on a smart phone or have signatures turned off in your profile, which you can do, then you don’t see anybody’s signature.

And no, never used a cast aluminum version of the ‘73+ calipers. Why don’t you have at it and tell us how it goes?

OK. I didn't look up 'running gear'. Evidently I should have. My mistake. My apologies.

sheesh....

I intended to offend, irritate, or pique no one. I have no idea what a thread looks like on a fone. If the question pertained to something other than what I own (and is described in my signature..which evidently means squat, which is true if it says ILBT), I would have said so to start with.

Fine with me to delete the thread. What was intended to be of value and to make sense to me isn't happening.

Thanks for the input.

Just go to rockauto and buy some replacement '73 Duster or Dart calipers. You say stuck bleeder valve ect get some new replacements bolt em on there get er done. Cast iron regular replacements are fine.

Why are you looking for car parts on Amazon? If you’re not that well versed in car parts, use rockauto’s website to get a great idea of what’s available.

If one of my teeth hurts, I don’t go to my GP (ie: Amazon) but I go to my dentist (rock auto) to get an idea of what my options are to fix the pain.
