Replacement manual steering box

-
How bad can it be? I drove my Barracuda without the power steering pump connected for years.

20:1 manual steering was the standard manual steering for the rest of the world outside of USA CA in A bodies as far as i can tell

export Barracudas USA to RHD countries
australian production
south african production
at least.....

but keep.... in mind most of them got 225-360 and that was it....and there would be more at the 225 245 265 273 318 end of the scale

Very helpful info. Is there a downside to the 24:1 that I should know? Vague steering down the road? Something else? I’ve seen the PST box and they are well regarded. I do like that I can get a 24:1 that is stock appearing ( original casting). Kinda into stock appearance. Thanks
my car has the 24:1 stock. parking lots aren't bad at all as far as effort, but there is a lot of sawing on the wheel to go lock to lock (I want to say it's like 5 full turns)....it's a little vague on center going down the highway, but doesn't wander, especially if you used the offset UCA bushings and your alignment has a lot of caster (I think I'm at like +3.5 degrees)

Hi gang. New to me 70 Dart 340. Great car, but steering was very heavy- very! Car has 225/60-14 fronts, which were low on air. Increased to 34 lbs, but still a bear. Checked ratio using lock to lock and found she has a 16:1 box. That certainly would add to the effort. Looking to obtain a new 24:1 and wondering what the best source might be. Also, looks like the steering shaft can stay in the car when I r+r the box. True? Appreciate the help.
I have the same problem with my 66 Dart and im 75,Arm strong steering
