that's mounted to the front driver side intake bolt on '68 383 4spd. - Maybe a dumb question but am I risking a manifold gasket leak if I remove this bolt to switchout my bracket?
 
No. I've done that type of thing many times without a problem. It's a good time to re-torque the other bolts.

Nope, but I would put a little thread sealant on the bolt when you put it back in. Oil can, not always, wick up the threads and leave oil on the intake.
 
thanks. funny you mentioned that - I noticed a tiny bit of oil below one or two of other bolts - will check/torque all.
