Has anyone done this in a different way aside from painting it body color and riveting it back to the inner fender? I was thinking of ways to restore mine. I'd like to soak it in EvapoRust, strip it, paint it, and then highlight (in a contrasting color) the lettering. Anything cool or interesting out there? Thanks!

fender tag should look like it belongs to the original vehicle. as in original body colour. just my 2 cents. [ the whole idea behind a fender tag ]

every one that i have seen has been screwed to the inner fender well with phillips screws . the VIN tag is riveted.

I appreciate the way it was done from the factory, just figured I might try something different. I'll probably just end up having my paint code mixed into an aerosol can and spray it that way after prep and primer.

I've seen them both screwed and riveted, but you're right, most are screwed. I managed to track mine down from the previous owner about a year after I purchased the car.

I do like the idea...I wouldn't do it to my cars...but I do like the "highlight" never seen it before...do it!!!!!

there will always be neigh-sayers. Look at Blue Missile's thread he's been getting slammed forever on his "out-there ideas"!

Aloha Mike

It's your car, make it yours, do what you like. You'll never be able to make everyone happy, as long as it's cool to you- It's cool!
