I bought a 360 a while ago and am finally getting to the stage of putting it back together. I bought the motor disassembled from a shop that was swapping over to big block for the customer. The engine has forged pistons and appears to be internally balanced (heavy metal in crank & 318/340 internal balance style balancer). Is there any way to tell if the rod bolts in the picture are factory or aftermarket (ARP, etc)?

Why trust possibly 50 year old rod bolts, bite the bullet and grab some ARP bolts for your own peace of mind.

If you don't know the history and the quality of the rod bolt I would replace it. I have phone to write connection rod bolts in my 340 which I believe were made by ARP and they have a different marking on the top. They may be ARPs they're just different than mine
