Anyone done any sandblasting in a tent? I have those pieces that are too large for my sandblast cabinet. If I farmed the jobs out I would be paying enough to buy a large cabinet - but don't have space to put one.
If you have done it, what size tent did you use, and what sort of protective gear did you use? How did you keep dust level down, etc.
Thanks,
C

Never tried a tent. I bought a small plastic kids pool (4'x4' and only $6) I sandblast my larger parts in that. Now that Im blasting my engine bay I just slide the pool under the car to catch all the media and debris. When Im done I use an extra fine kitchen sifter (its one that even the smallest coffee ground cant pass though) to sift out all the crap so I can reuse the media (90% of the time I use aluminum oxide) As far as protection; long sleeve shirt, HEAVY elbow length gloves, and a blasting hood. I have an exhaust fan in the garage so most of the dust goes out that. But there are times that I just crank up the heat and hose out the garage to get ALL of the dust out.
*Side note-- I use that pool a lot. no matter where Im working it goes underneath if it can fit. Anything I drop ends up in it instead of rolling off where I cant find it. And you know that if what you drop doesnt roll off it is ofcourse going to land dead center in the middle of the car where its hardest reach. Good luck!!

I've done a lot of sandblasting on a prior project in the shop where I just draped a large piece of plastic over the car to "somewhat" contain the sand for reusing. I may just do the pool trick and hang a plastic shower curtain up for starters.
Thanks!
