Are the shock plates for the 8 1/4 the same for the 8 3/4?

The only odd-ball passenger car shock plates were found on 7.25" rears and cars with Iso-mount springs.

All others interchange.

The shock plates are different. Measure the outside tube of axle housing. The 83/4 housing is 3" in diameter. The 81/4 is either 27/8" or 23/4" wich is too narrow

7.25" rears have 2.75" tubes.

Because 8.25" rears have 3" tubes, the shock plates interchange with 8.75" rears.
