Shot-Peening

I remember after grinding/polishing my 273 connecting rods smooth and shiny (back in the 1970's) I sent them out to be shot-peened. When they came back, the surface was more like sand paper.

Try to only go up and down and not side to side
when polishing. Do not let them get hot!
