Which mark do I use? I've had this motor together forever, switched over to EFI about 8 years ago and can't remember which mark I used to time it. They are about 7 or 8 degrees apart.

Find true TDC on number one and paint the mark that lines up with zero. Don’t guess.

That dampener looks pretty crusty, what does the condition of the rubber look like?
Why would there be 2 marks on it? A correction because outer ring has slipped? May be time for a new one.

Yeah, I think my plan is to replace it. I didn't need a puller to remove it, just a little tug by hand and it came off.

Even if you replace it, find true TDC on number one and verify the new one.

Boy, I have never pulled one off by hand! Yes, verify timing mark and TDC with new balancer.

ProStockTom sells a nice liquid filled ("cause you can't say "Fluid Damper") unit for a good price. I bought one, and the timing marks are dead on for my application.
